SUPPORTING WOMEN IN MINING
Supporting #WomenInMining: Nikita Lis's Inspiring Journey
Nikita Lis's journey to a respected production foreman at Mount Carbine Operations highlights the transformative power of determination and adaptability in the mining industry.
Initially pursuing a biomedical science degree, Nikita took a gap year trip to Cape York, leading her to the EQ Resources tungsten mine. Despite no prior mining experience, her passion and dedication saw her rise from truck operator to overseeing the mine's wet crushing operations.
Nikita's career growth reflects the importance of providing on-site training and fostering talent. Starting as a truck operator, she embraced every learning opportunity, advancing her skills in metallurgical engineering. “It's always something new and exciting, and it keeps me on my toes,” she says. Her enthusiasm and continuous development have made her invaluable.
Nikita notes, “There’s a lot of multi-tasking in this job, which is quite exciting, and lately I've been actually able to apply the things I've been learning at uni.”
Her success highlights the value of nurturing talent and providing #careergrowth paths. On-site training programs are crucial for those entering the mining industry, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed.
Empowering women like Nikita not only enriches the workplace but also strengthens the entire industry. Her contributions help achieve collective goals and demonstrate the significant impact women can make in mining.
Nikita's story is an inspiration, reminding us of the importance of fostering an inclusive environment where all employees can thrive.
